Joel Holsteen- Annie Dillard # 2
In Annie Dillard's "Three," she brings up a story of how in the old days before there was the invention of long range rifles the men had to approach the animals very closely for a kill, sometimes even waiting for the weather to change to gain the advantage. This excerpt from Dillard's book opened my eyes to how much we have changed as Americans. We used to spend time and effort in our daily lives such as getting food and suppling for our families. In the world we live in now we can get in our cars drive down to the corner of the street and order food then drive back and eat it. It is because of the convenience that this country demands and expects that we have lost the ways of our elders. I feel that we have changed so much that there is now possible way for us to go back to that simpler life style but we need to stop being so lazy.
