The Unsettling of America 2 - tony pasquariello
Wendell compares the way we treat our bodies to the way we treat our earth, and states that it is hardly surprising that there is some profound resemblances between the ways we treat the two. He says there are many religious questions to ask ourselves because our bodies are part of the Creation, and are a mystery to us still. Aside from religion though, he says that these questions are agricultural as well, because “no matter how urban our life, our bodies live by farming, we come from the earth and return to it, and so we live in agriculture as we live in flesh.” I think it is important to understand and recognize that when we are gone, we are in the soil, and thus another reason why land is so sacred and should be taken better care of.
