Over spring break I stayed with some friends at a beach in the Outer Banks, and one night a few of my friends and I decided to stay up the whole night and walk out on the beach right before the sun rises to witness it. It was one of the most beautiful, peaceful moments in my life, and will definitely experience it many more times with many different people. To watch the process of the lights being turned on in a room takes but a second, the process of the light coming on the Earth takes much longer, and is so much more breathtaking to take in. The seagulls were flying in together, the colors in the sky were like colors I’ve never seen before, and not one of us said a word for a few minutes while we just soaked in the start of a brand new day. I think for somebody to be able to say that they have lived; they must also be able to say that they have seen the sun rise.
