Kelley Brown-"Bulldozing" - The Practice of the Wild

“It would make your hair stand up to see how a Japanese developer will take bulldozers to a nice slope of old pines and level it for a new town (pg. 95).”

It is crazy how the world we have come to know today is all about what is new, bigger, and how we can compete for the “best”. More times than I wish, I will be driving down the road and see a construction team tearing down natural habitats in order to erect houses, businesses, etc. I believe that all of this build-up comes from the human wants of trying to create bigger and better things on our own and to have another place to wastefully spend our money on ourselves. Nature we cannot create so humans, who want to be in control of everything around them, build their own to satisfy their own needs and wants. The amount of money that is spent on tearing down, building up, and buying in these areas makes me sick to my stomach—there is so much more to life.
