Kelley Brown- The Practice of the Wild 2

“Inspiration, exaltation, and insight do not end when one steps outside the doors of the church" (p. 101).

When I read the above quote for the first time, I pictured a church with the doors flinging open and people coming down the front stairs. These people were going out into their communities and surrounding areas and still being able to see God’s work and righteousness, even without the building where they normally meet. I think that this is a beautiful picture because there is so much corruption in the world and within the church. People think that God is locked in the church building and is not everywhere and in everything in this world.

You can encounter God anywhere. God is found in the clefts of rocks, in the ants of the ground, in the community around us, everywhere. So much of the time we try to put God in a box of our own or trap Him in a building but He is so much greater than that. Nature is such a breathtaking gift that shows just a glimpse of God’s glory and power and many times through nature we can find ourselves. Being in God’s creation brings such a sense of peace and tranquility and helps you quiet and focus your mind on things that are impossible to focus on when you are surrounded by the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
