Ben Wiehl - Annie Dillard #2

"Stalking the other way, I forge my own passage seeking the creature."

This quote from Annie Dillard immediately makes me think of the search for the divine by human beings. It is necessary for each person to "forge their own passage" to this end, as each person is different from the next. Each individuals needs differ from the next, which is why I think that nature is a good alternative to organized religion in terms of what it can provide a person with. In a lot of organized religions there are a lot of terms, things you can or cannot do etc. Like C.S. Lewis said, the only imperative that nature utters is look, listen, attend. You can get whatever you need out of nature as long as you simply do those three things.
