Robert Bogle #9 Stonehenge- Richard Bradley. Ritual, Time, and History: 209-219
In Richard Bradley’s article, “Ritual, Time, and History”, he examines the chronology of the Stonehenge monument in substantial and abstract time. Substantial time is created by human experience. In abstract time it is created through measured segments of time. Since there is little record of the human experience from that time period, we must make assumptions culturally or theorize its purposes. We do know through radiocarbon dating its abstract geological timeframe, but that only gives us a date. Since there is no concrete explanation, there will be greater interest to study the monument.
I found this article somewhat helpful in explaining the reason for the mystery behind Stonehenge. As humans, we seek explanations for the unexplained, and I believe we will continue studying Stonehenge until its secrets are revealed.
