Annie Dillard 1

In the beginning of Annie Dillard’s novel Pilgrim at Tinker Creek she says “The creeks are the world with all its stimulus and beauty; I live there. But the mountains are home.” I relate to this statement a lot because I often question where I call home, or if I have multiple homes. I know that I live in this world, whether in Newport News, Manassas, or New York, but I don’t know where to call home, if any or if all. She says that she lives where the creeks are, surrounded by the beautiful nature, but she refers to the mountains as her home. I think that a home is where you reside at when you are done living, and living is what it is you do outside of the home.
