After reading Into the Wild i decided to look over the book again. Something that I thought was really interesting was how Chris McCandless had his heart set some something and he just did whatever he could to do what he wanted. Even though he was an extremely smart and well educated man, he one day just decided to pack up his old life and hit the road.
To just throw away all that you have worked for your entire life seems a little bit foolish to me, but at the same time it is commendable. It takes a lot of courage for someone to get rid of all their money. Especially in today’s world, to hear of someone willing to give away all their material possessions is not a normal occurrence. After I read about how he did this it got me thinking of whether or not I would ever consider doing something like this.
I do not think that I would be able to burn all my stuff and have all my possessions on my back like Chris McCandless did. I am sure that I could do it for a little bit, but I would not be able to leave my whole life behind. I would be able to get rid of my stuff for a little bit and live out in the wilderness, but I would make sure that I would be able to get all my stuff back, especially my current job.
