Joel Holsteen- A Continuous Harmony #1
In Wendell Berry's "A Continuous Harmony," there is an entry from April 25 that states; "A light frost at night. Mist from the river kept it off the fruit trees. The morning sunny. I left the house after breakfast, and walked up the branch and over the hill. Sitting on a log near the top of the bluebell slope. The woods leafing out. Around me the birds are singing, and in a larger circle I hear the farmer's tractors getting on with the spring work." This is a prime example of how powerful nature can be and the effect it can have on someone. Its calming to him and relaxes him which is why he went out after breakfast because he knew that it would have a positive effect on him. This shows that even small breaks in the day spent outside viewing nature and wilderness can have a positive effect on someone.
