“What I am saying is that if we apply our minds directly and competently to the needs of the earth, then we will have begun to make fundamental and necessary changes in our minds.” What Berry means here is that you should not only say that things need to be different, and talk about what is wrong with the world today, you yourself have to live every day to help out for whatever it is you believe in so that you can show people what they should be doing. You should try to start organizations to help out your cause, but before and while doing so you should be out and picking up trash or using less fuel whatever it is you are concerned with, so that you can assure yourself as well as others that you mean what you say.
