Marie Steinheiser: The unsettling of america #2
In "The Unsettling of America," Berry chooses to argue those values that we have come to know. These values of maximum production, a technology based environment, and land where no man has a place. This is the way of life that we have come to know as a norm. Farming is based on maximum production, where the environment is used to aid the human race. Farming that once used to be a simple technique of harvesting the land has been taken over by our technology and modern ways. The feeling of gratification from harvesting the land with all that you have has been replaced by machines, rather than man labor. This disconnection from the land has taken over our society.
