Marie Steinheiser: Practice of the wild #2
In Gary's essay, "Good, Wild, and Sacred," he discusses what is truly considered sacred. To him, all wilderness is sacred. He feels in order to preserve the wild, we must respect it. From his view points, you can tell he is a man of nature. Someone that embraces nature and the resources that come from it. While he utilizes those resources, he does not believe we should overstep our boundaries. Nature is not just the forest far off in the distance, but those patches of trees and grass where animals roam free. In fact, it reminds me of an occurence that happened to me today. While i was walking to class i crosses three squirrels that almost got run over by a car. They had to scurry off to a small patch of grass in order to survive the attack of technology. We have done this to them. We have taken away their home and replaced it with limited amounts of space to roam freely and safely.
