Joel Holsteen- Natural Setting
This semester we took a class trip out to the Nolan Trail, this trip was a way for us to open our eyes to the wonderful side of the outdoors which is the wilderness. I realized that wilderness has a calming effect on people no matter what is going on you can just take a break and breath and enjoy the beauty of nature. I noticed that the trail was full of people, however, non of them looked like they were actually enjoying it to the fullest. A majority of the people were runners with their ipods and headphones on just trying to get to the end of the trail completely ignoring the wild life and beautiful flowers and sights that you would miss unless you were looking. I actually started looking around which was different for me because i have become one of those people who run through with an ipod not caring. I saw interesting sites like umbrella looking flowers and wildlife structures like a beaver damn and bird or squirrel nests. But then i saw a house in the distance and it brought me back to the world and its redundancy that i was away from. So i now realize how the real world can wreck your nature experience.
