"If we apply our minds directly and competently to the needs of the earth, then we will have begun to make fundamental and necessary changes in our minds."
I like this emphasis of how the importance of the change in mind is relevant to the Earths needs. The careless and wasteful economic expansions that deter from the earths needs not only destroy how much the earth produces, but the amount that can be produced on it. This goes back on the point I made earlier about how the world and nature depend on us as much as we depend on it. If we prevent the earth from getting what it needs, then were only preventing our own needs, slowly but surely. For example If we continue to expand at the rapid rate that we are now, the world will begin to break down, resulting in the destruction of ourselves. Overall I agree with Wendell Berry that this change in mind is fundamental and necessary for the survival of Earth and everything that dwells upon it.
