C.S. Lewis wrote about the love for nature; being able to appreciate the surroundings for being the way they are. Annie Dillard’s book, Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, is harder for me to interpret, but she talks about nature a lot in the book. Around the beginning, for example, she talks about a tear shaped island that she goes to monthly. She talks about the nature and wildness of the place and goes on to talk about certain organisms and processes about the island. She does this other times, like when describing Tinker Creek. She is displaying an appreciation for the wilderness and what naturally occurs. I can relate this to C.S. Lewis’s discussion of the love for nature because they both have the same idea, but Annie Dillard is more abstract.
