Joel Holsteen- Outside reading #2

In David Cole and Peter Landres' "Threats to Wilderness Ecosystems: Impacts and Research Needs," they talkabout the need to protect out wilderness. They bring up many facts about different reasons our wilderness is being destroyed from recreation, livestock, and pollution to name a few. They like the idea of wilderness areas however they are being threatened by humans and our pollution. This article jumped out at me because of its strong call for us as the human race to preserve and protect the wilderness. We as a people tend to take the forests and other wilderness areas for granted and just see it as supplies such as paper, wood, and recreation to name a few. The wilderness should be viewed as a place to escape the from the machine that the world has transformed humans to be a part of.
