Derek Terrell:Outside Reading #3: Interesting Thoughts

Discussions on Global Warming By S.M. Enzler MSc http://www.lenntech.com/greenhouse-effect/global-warming-discussion.htm

After reading this article i found myself in much disagreement with the authors views. The author states that people should not be focusing on whether greenhouse gasses emitted by human activities have an impact, but instead how much effect these emissions have on temperature. I agree that we should be focusing on how much these emissions affect temperature, but not as a result of forgetting about the impact of human activities. There is no doubt about it that human activities are having an impact on greenhouse gas emissions, whether these are affecting the temperature or not, its still causing many problems for the environment. He continues by introducing the idea that computer models are beneficial for representing future outcomes, but they can't even represent all important factors to prove negative potential outcomes. I would also have to disagree with this logic because computer models are proving negative outcomes that the Earth is experience everyday. Some of these outcomes include The melting of Ice glaciers in Alaska and Iceland. If these continue to melt, then certain land masses that are below see level will become part of the ocean. If this happens then there will eventually be an insufficient amount of land for the growing population, which could potentially result in a depletion of most the worlds natural resources.
