Derek Terrell: Natural Setting #2: The Trail
During our visit to the Lions Gate bridge i was able to experience natures unique life cycle between seasons. I had been to Lions Gate many times in the past, but never got to experience everything that surrounded the trail right as spring began making an appearance. During this trip i really focused on Redicks idea of nature speaking to us. Not with words of course, but with its transformation in appearance, texture, and even smell in some cases. One way that the trees spoke out too me were by the different textures that were present. Some of the trees had really rough and brittle textures signaling that maybe they hadn't had enough water or were dieing because of the change in temperatures. The fallen trees spoke too me by their appearance, which indicated whether or not they had fallen because of natural causes or human influence on the area. The most obvious appearance of spring were the tiny little buds that were sprouting at the tips of branches and limbs. Some flowers that bloomed earlier gave off amazing aromas that made me think I had already walked in the presence of spring. I also was able to witness animals that are more abundant during this time of year, which I probably wouldn't have seen much of in a different season.
