" Every region has its wilderness. There is fire in the kitchen, and there is the place less traveled."
From this quote i think Gary Snyder is trying to introduce the idea that wilderness can be found in places that we have interactions with everyday, as well as places that are more foreign to us. This idea of every region having its own wilderness expands my definition of wilderness to more of an experience rather then an actual thing. I can relate this to the experiences i shared in class about a spot that was important to me as a child and still is even today. Before taking this class I just thought about this spot as being a specific place to get away, instead of an experience that formed a relationship between myself and nature. This has made me realize that it is possible for every region to have its own wilderness because wilderness can be anything that creates different feelings then what your use to. Gary Snyder adds to the idea further in the chapter by stating. "They live between the poles of home and their own wild places." Again labeling something as a wild place of their own expands on the idea that a wild place is something that is influential to your own experiences.
