F. Heylighen, & J. Bernheim talk about how the negative environmental conditions that were heavily predominant around certain areas in the past but are now beginning to get better. For example they explain that the London smog, which was notorious for killing many people in the early 20th century, had completely disappeared. This decrease in pollution has allowed the fish populations in many rivers around the area to increase. What really interested me about this article was when they state how if economy and technology continue to become more advanced, then more money and better techniques become available for minimizing pollution. Personally I'm not sure if i agree with this idea because the more we advance in these areas the more fossil fuels we end up using. Higher depletion of fossil fuels results in more negative effects towards the ozone later and an increase in global warming. Also if we increase economy and technology advancements, then we will have to destroy the Earth even more just to find more natural resources to continue the increase of production. Overall this doesn't seem to have as many beneficial effects as the authors make it appear to have.
