-From John Rosegrant’s Impact of set and setting on religious experience in nature
John Rosegrant says in his article, “Solitude in nature has been noted to be conducive to religious experience.” He also points out from a study that “Persons who have religious experiences in wilderness solitude apparently usually have the set of being friendly toward nature and accepting it on its own terms rather then holding back from it or manipulating it.” He also makes the point that most of these religious experiences take place in beautiful settings appealing to people. He also goes on giving examples of specific religious encounters in the wilderness. This article was interesting to me because it shows that you have to accept nature to gain the beauty of that wilderness area.
